February 1978
"You
stay classy, Birmingham!"
Fashion-wise,
I'd say the whole decade was one big "goof."

"Toys,
Guns and Yo-Yos!"

You'll
go back back back for 'cue 'cue 'cue?
|
"Oh!",
indeed.

No shortage of
movies to see in the Magic City. (Although I think I'll pass on Disco
9000, thank you)

BIRMINGHAM
REWOUND recalls
the
Burt Reynolds movie Hooper.
Much
of Hooper was filmed in this area ... places like the Lynns Park
bridge on U.S. 78 in Walker County, and the Locust Fork crossing on 78,
taking advantage of a recent tragedy -- when a tanker truck exploded on
the original truss span months earlier, causing it to collapse.

This
appears to be about as close as the News photographers were able
to get to Burt Reynolds!
